  • Rule of thirds ignored but...........

..........I wanted the foreground and the top of the masts! And, I liked the colours.

An evening shot in Swanage Bay.

Lovely composition, Bob. Rules are made to be broken, if it looks right it is right!

      Looks good to me, Bob.

      Thanks for sharing.

Lovely light...well done you for capturing it.

As for rules? I make mine up as I go along! I stuck rigidly to the "rules" when I first started...now I don't give a flying wotsit!

You seem to have broken many of the so called "rules" with this one, but it's still a pleasing image. I like it.

What a great shot ! the reflections, the water on the hull, and the foreground detail all add up to a truly great composition !

Thank you John, Peter,Janet, Chevvyf1 and Susan for your comments. You've all given me great encouragement to see what other rule-breakers I can dig up! It's also made me look through all my other saved images to see what a little sharpening, cropping and some noise reduction can achieve!

Nice shot and beautiful light on the boat Bob.

The only rule that counts is "does it work" and here the answer is yes.
                    Regards Paul.

And why not? Just let me know when you are coming. Lots here for someone with a geological interest.

Thanks, Paul. It has given me encouragement to look through others I have taken and which have broken the rules and which might be of interest to others.
