For various reasons I haven't done much photography lately so today when going out for some mundane errands I took the camera with me to shoot some of those things I keep saying "I must get a shot of that" about.
The estate I live on was built on the parkland which surrounded a long gone house called White Court Place. In WW II it was home to an American Army hospital and in 1992 the Parish Council erected a war memorial at the entrance to the estate commemorating this. Quite a number of US Veterans came over for the dedication. It is well maintained by the Council and volunteers and every Rememberance Sunday a memorial sevice is held supported by residents and the local Scouts/guides etc.

The plaque on the memorial tells the story.

More from today's outing in the next posts.
