As an aviation enthusiast and having posted a few such shots on this forum, these two images are my tribute to the skill and bravery of the Red Arrows pilots, one of whom sadly lost his life at Bournemouth Air Festival 20/02/2011.
I deliberately post two photos that predate the arrival in 2010 of the Flt Lt Jon Egging 'Red 4'.
The first shows the 2008 team pilots having their pre-Sunderland Airshow display briefing at Newcastle Airport - these are the guys (and now one lass) who have entertained so many with their tremendous skills and bravery (or even bravado). Their loss is a shocking blow.
The second shows the Red Arrows doing what they are so brilliant at - displaying to the public, in this case at the Junior Great North Run 2006, Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside. [This latter image is not taken on an Olympus camera but instead a compact camera, but it is a shot that I love as it symbolises to me so much about the Red Arrows].
My thoughts are so much with the family and the team. In a world of so many tragedies and losses, many others too deserve to be in our thoughts.

Regards
Chris
