  • Couldn't finish off a Dunnock

A juvenile Dunnock (I think a Dunnock) was sat on our driveway, clearly in trouble and looking like it wasn't going to last much longer. It never moved when I touched it and it's eyes looked very strange. I took a couple of quick shots and placed it in a hedgerow. I should really have put it out if it's misery I think.

Poor little bird, I had the same decision as you yesterday. The cat brought home a very young sparrow. I ended up taking it up to the trees and bushes by the canal. Such a shame, I'm wondering now if I did the right thing. When I got home I could see mother sparrow out in search.

Yeah but smacking a cute little thing with a spade is ... awkward.

We had two mice in the steel bin the other day, so it was great for once to be able to chuck them down the end of the garden instead of dispatching them.

It looks in good physical condition despite its malaise...
