Annan has two pipe bands and the Town Band, our brass band. All three make regular appearances and are very well supported for a small town.
On gala day or Riding of the Marches, all three bands take part in the parade and usually another pipe band or two also participate. At times I really feel for the Town Band as they have to follow, for instance, the Royal Burgh of Annan Pipe Band - with twenty one pipers two bass drummers and a large corps of tenor and side drummers they make one hell of a sound
Accordingly they need to make an impact and they do so with gusto and attitude

In the evening all three bands appear together and produce a remarkable sound. The highlight this year was undoubtedly when they played " The Rose of Kelvingrove". It sounded much better than the link below, which is excellent, as all the pipers, drummers and brass joined together and brought tears to many eyes, including mine
