  • Frank Whittles Nostril

Rumour has it that when Sir Frank Whittle was having difficulties with airflow when designing the jet engine, he picked (sorry!) on the inner whirls of the Falcon's nostrils for inspiration.

This is a Gyr falcon, taken with my new love the Panasonic GH2 and its standard 14-42mm lens. I sincerely hope that Olympus will pick on and improve this wonderful m4/3 camera for their next release.

Thanks! I must admit I was pleased with the results from a "kit" lens.

        Stephen,
That's a great shot. It looks as if it is eying up breakfast. Where did you take it? Was the bird tethered?

I bought my wife a falconry experience for Christmas, and we took it up a couple of weeks ago. We went to a lovely dog-friendly hotel near Dumfries, the Trigony House, and they arranged it in their garden. The bird was sitting on the falconers wrist awaiting instruction.

We got to handle 4 different birds - this is the current wife with a Barn Owl (spot which is which).

From your "current" comments I would suggest you are well on the way to your next!

That said, I agree with Cathrine, the clarity is stunning.

Two beautiful birds - well...Three really!

You would have to be pretty happy with the clarity of that 1st shot, and what an amazing experience to have had with the falconry outing.

I enjoyed these shots very much.
