Re: Colour or mono?
I prefer the mono but would like to see it with more contrast.
But I'd also like to see the colour with more saturation.
It was nice up on the Pentlands this morning but entered the murk on passing Mortonhall.
I'd love to have been out with the camera. Yesterday evening had possibilities as well.Duncan

Colour.

You must have taken so many pictures in the grounds there - from memory driving around the perimeter it seemed vast. What with the big *hoose* too.

Re: Colour or mono?
As they stand the colour image is the better of the two. The mono image with more contrast would be the better image.
Did you use "convert to greyscale" or desaturate? These are poor substitutes to Channel Mixer, or setting up two hue/saturation layers (I'm sure there still a video of Russell Brown of Abobe somewhere showing how to do this).
I remember when I first dabbled with black and white (film) photography the results were absolutely awful. You needed a lot of knowledge about b/w film to get half decent results. Black and white in PP is so much easier and forgiving when you're understanding of physics isn't too hot!.

Re: Colour or mono?
Neither - I simply used a Lightroom action. I thought of giving it more contrast, but felt it might move the image away from the "foggy day" that it was.

Re: Colour or mono?
A few thousand, certainly. The immediate grounds cover about 6 square miles. There's always something new, a new angle, or fresh foliage, to photograph. One day I might even get something right!
