Snashing set Nick, we don't often see these up here, at least I don't. I'm going to go against the flow and say #2 for me, I prefer the pose and I like that the top of the log is the same colour as Nuthatchies back.

A quick glance at the RSPB distribution map seems to suggest that the Nuthatch is confined to England, so you'll be close to the edge of its range.

Sapper - I'd guess the 300mm ec2.0 should be a great combination, albeit the lack of zoom might limit you to small birds or far away ducks.
