  • Picture of my little girl

We have been trapped in by a combination of snow and winter vomiting virus (don't ask!) so I took this photo of my 8 month old girl, Imogen. What do you think? Just loving my new (relatively) E3.

This works very well - love her expression and the high key background

Thanks Ian, its nice to get some feedback. I'm going to try to be a more active member instead of a lurker, that's the plan anyway!

I love the lighting on her face, and I quite like the apparently slightly wonky background

Its not a case of dodgy diy fencing (although there is plenty dodgy diy stuff around my house). I tried squaring it up but the angle of the face was all wrong so I decided to live with the background hoping no one would notice.....

It's a lovely shot in spite of the angle of the face and the background.

B&W conversion works really well and I would definitely try for another shot when she's in such a pensive mood.

The value in this is what we can all learn from it.

Agreed. It's wonderful to get shots of your own children like this. Miles better than the average snapshot.

If my wife and I decide to have children, I'll certainly be looking forward to photographing them!

Since Imogen was born about 80% of my pictures have been of her!

My son is pretty much the same age as Imogen and I have to agree with you. Mainly becuase I do enjoy taking pictures of him but also becuase I don't get many opportunities to get out and about with the camera so I have to practice on the subjects close to hand.

What a lovely and very well composed photo. I haven't tried converting any of mine to B+W. If I have the time I will look through the two hundred or so photos I have of him to see which, if any, may work.
