I've just been on a little perambulate around the magnificent but disastrous Seaton Delaval Hall just N of Newcastle. This obelisk was supposedly built as an eyecatcher for the hall.
The building to the left is the back door of the hall:
There isn't a right of way to the obelisk itself, but I think it's on NT land, however I didn't get any closer than the shots indicate. Muddy fields and all that!
