Greg, I think you are going to really enjoy playing with it - and I'm expecting some great images too!John

Re: First shot with the B+W 110 nd filter
Hey Greg, I would recognise that filter anywhere
Nice shot, must be nice to have a view like that from your back garden, and to think that this is just the start, just as a thought there's a shot there all on it's own in the foreground, time to get down and dirty (or wet!)

Re: First shot with the B+W 110 nd filter
Thanks Neil. This was just a grab shot to see if I could get anything useful from the wee beastie
You are of course right about the need to get down and dirty to get some shots using the foreground rocks. I will need another tripod now. Back to 7dayshop for another bargain

Re: First shot with the B+W 110 nd filter
Hi Greg
When considering a new tripod to use with the 110 please buy something sturdy, on long exposures it's really easy to collect blur from passing breeze etc, you may be disappointed if you buy cheap and cheerful (such as a Manfrotto)
Sorry if I'm advising the blindingly obvious

Any recommendations - nothing too outrageous on the price front of course

Hi Greg,
Great shot, I think your right, your gonna have a great time with that ND
As for Tripods, it may be worth looking at the Giotto range. I bought one after reading Johns (zuiko) review on FTU its a superb bit of kit.

Superb shot Greg, looking forward to seeing more like that
With regard to tripods I would strongly recommend you have a look at the Redsnapper range http://www.redsnapperuk.com/camera-a...d_Combo_s.html , quality and robustness far far beyond their extremely reasonable pricing.
I'll just add that I have no commercial arrangement with the company but I am extremely pleased with a RS-284 & RSH-12 that I bought last Christmas (replaced a lighter weight Velbon unit).Regards Huw

Tripods
Giottos are great. Cheaper than the equivalent Manfrottos too.
I used a 10 stopper on a recent holiday but got frustrated by a 3 minute exposure taking 3 minutes to processDave

x110 type work besides which you really need to have 4 arms and 3 legs to operate it and Gitzo I'm afraid is outrageously expensive
Happily though it looks as if others have some ideas, happy decision making
