  • Where have all the butterflies gone?

This time last year we had many opportunities to take pix of butterflies locally but not so this year. It can't be the weather as, apart from yesterday when I got soaked through whilst on a walk with friends, we have had several weeks of very warm sunny weather. Anyway, today we saw just a few and below are a couple -

    1.

    2.

    3. We took a bus to about five miles from home and walked back along the canal towpath, taking a similar route to the one we followed a couple of days ago. The then tranquil canal was busy today with residential narrowboats, holiday craft and working boats -

    4. A flower along the way -

    5. and finally - One of our resident herons, close to home -

Again all with E-30, 70-300 lens.

    Regards,

      Hi Anne

I've actually seen a lot of butterflies this year apart from Painted Ladies.Last year there were early migrants and also loads of home hatched later in the year.
I've not seen one this year.
      All the best
