  • Summer Godwits

The water level in our reservoir has fallen dramatically in the last week and we now have large areas of mud which are attracting a large number of Black Tailed Godwits in summer breeding plumage. These are the southern european variant which mainly breed in Denmark and spend the winter in southern Europe and north Africa and we don't often see them. We mainly get the Icelandic sub- species which spend the winter here and breed in Iceland and we only see them in their drab winter plumage.

    Thanks for looking.
