    I've never thought B&W works very well with flowers. I tried it with some white orchids and even they didn't look right. The slightest colour is often what makes the flower and when it's removed, for me, too much of the attraction of the subject is lost.

    What is it like in colour ?

          You could always bring back the colour in the pollen heads and stamens. But I do generally agree with others that mono flowers are not good. There would have to be something exceptional about such an image for me to give it a good mark.

            Thank you everyone for taking the time to comment. I have taken in everything that has been said, & now agree that flowers don`t suit mono, after all the whole point of flowers is their attractive colours

              I disagree! I like the mono treatment for flowers.

              Here the petals show lots of subtle highlight detail, the black dots around the centre are really interesting in their pattern and I even like the black background. The only thing I could complain about is the stamen (is it?) being a bit oof.
