Kestrel in the sun

A second day of sun took us out in search of Red Kite which we did find but what we didn't expect to see was a Kestrel - my favourite bird.

Thank you! After what I would term a dismal summer, autumn and early winter, we had two consecutive cloudless days - and then there was snow!

Thank you! Rarely see kestrels locally but as I was looking up for Red Kite, I was aware of movement at a much lower level and there it was - very fortunate.

Thank you - if it makes you feel any better it was just two exceptional days in what seems to have been like a never ending gloom which always seems worse at this time of year with the early evening darkness.

Thank you - we were in an area where we expect (or at least hope) to see Red Kite but to have my favourite bird fly in at a reasonable height was magical.

Thank you - they are lovely - their colours are great and they don't disappear the minute they notice you - just get on with the job of hovering and diving!
