In a final desperate effort, the 32-year-old decided to take the plunge and climb into the murky pool with his camera and ended up contracting several tropical diseases.
There was a discussion about him over on the four thirds photo forum. The general agreement was that he is a bit stupid, except for all the Aussies who thought there was nothing wrong with contracting bilharzia, malaria and a number of nasty skin-burrowing parasites in the course of taking those shots. Personally I would rather use a canoe.
The question that I keep telling myself is Why on earth he went into that water without a wet suit that would surely have given him some protection.
