  • New Years resolutions anyone?

I've been banished into my room while presents are being wrapped so just been thinking about my photography in 2010

    I must...
    • Take more time over my shots and learn a little more theory.
    • Rate and review more photos on here
    • Sell my old gear like I told my wife I would (not sure about this one, but if there's a E-3 mk2...)
    • Be a bit braver when taking street shots - asking folks if they would mind if I take their pictures.
    • Try to participate in more challenges to stretch myself

Time, cost and wife permitting I may be able to do some of these.

Have you thought about any resolutions yet?

Yep, not to use the Royal Snail. They've lost a load of my Christmas presents

To create even better photos than last year and to prove buying these new lenses was worth it :-)

To take a bit more time over each shot rather than fireing off half a dozen thinking that PP can help out later, it cannot make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
            Happy Christmas everyone.

                    Re: New Years resolutions anyone?

Mine is similar to last year's, and one which I didn't really follow through on, and that is to take more pictures for myself and to develop my photography. I do take thousands of images a year, but they are mainly test images, not really enough personally satisfying creative images. And I want to spend more time printing!

                      Get more pictures actually printed

                      Use a tripod more .

                        Re: New Years resolutions anyone?

After my rant before over the Royal Mail, time to be serious and venture into a couple of new areas for me.

Firstly, after a bit of a dabble with my FL-50 and a brolly I have decided to get some more advanced studio kit and try some portrait work. Friend's children and my own grandsons to start with to get some experience and, hopefully, some portfolio shots.

The other thing I want to do is get a decent pano head and try some panoramic work. Got plans of a photo trip to Paris materialising, including some wide night shots from the top of la tour Montparnasse.

A prosperous and happy New Year to everyone, may your photography know no limits. Have a drink on me

                            Re: New Years resolutions anyone?

Things are far too uncertain for me to make any resolutions but I have got a few ideas I'm working on. The bottom line is that I do need to start making a little more money from photography if I am to afford to continue my hobby. I need to keep an open mind and have a flexible attitude rather than make any firm resolutions. It's both exciting and a little bit frightening but there's a good chance that I'll never work again (in the conventional sense). I must admit I'm not too sorry about that, just unfortunate that it's a result of ill health. At least I'm approaching this New Year with the feeling that my cloud may have a silver lining, unlike last year when it seemed that my silver lining had been swallowed by a cloud!

I think I can relate to that a little John - just heading in to clear

my desk today and the possibility of remuneration from photography (rather than from selling gear!) is one I will be thinking about.

Hope you find solutions that work for you.
