  • Recent Threads issue

    Hi All,

For some time I have been viewing the latest posts from the "Recent Threads" feature on my home page. Now for some reason "Recent Threads" have stopped displaying naturally and can only be seen by clicking the now downward pointing chevron on the far right of the panel, this then makes the threads display for that instant, but viewing a thread and returning to the home page causes them to again disappear requiring the chevron to again be clicked.

Anyone else had and solved this problem.

    Regards

    Gavin

Nothing has changed for me Gavin, can you provide a little more info so I can see if I can help get to the bottom of the issue for you.

      Re: Recent Threads issue

      Hi John,

Its a bit difficult to describe clearly perhaps the screen shots below will illustrate better.

The above image shows my home page on the first visit, as can be seen there are no "Recent Threads" showing.

Clicking the chevron in the top right of the above screen shot brings the Recent Threads to screen. This chevron used to be pointing upward.
      As shown below

Any navigation away from the Home page causes the re-occurance of the original problem.
I suppose the question is how do I get the chevron back to the correct orientation?

      Regards

      Gavin

only navigate away when the chevron is where you want it would be my guess......

it's the first time I have ever been to that page (!) but I see what you are getting at.
        E, Pen and OM-D bodies
        43 m43 and legacy glass
loads of flashes and accessories from all the systems

Would that I could get it back!

Whilst not getting the error that affects gno - I note that the Home Page has developed a coding error

            maybe this is connected.

              Hi Nick,

I too had noticed that, but was not sure if the two were connected.

Is your Chevron always in the same orientation in the "Recent Threads" panel?

              Regards

Yes - to the best of my knowledge it always points up - and by default the list of threads displays.

They might not be connected - but years of debugging experience suggests eliminating the known errors can often be a good first step.

                  Hi Nick,

I've checked my Home page on a different machine and the chevron is pointing down in that one too!
So it's not a machine thing it must be a setting or a bug!

                  Regards

I read all the above and looked at mine and it was fine.
I then clicked on the chevron and since then it has the same problem and is blank every time I come back to that page.

Hmmm, I can't think what the issue is here I'm afraid, as of course, the chevrons should remain in the last position they were at when you last navigated away from the page. Maybe as a temporary solution, use the forum home page rather than the site home page as your reference page.

I am going to install a small piece of code that might do the trick this afternoon.

Hmm this sounds like it could possibly be cookie related to me?? - Has anyone with the problem tried clearing their cookies or more specifically the E-system one? then re-visiting the site?

It might be this Paul, that's a good suggestion to be honest. Please can you clear your cookies and temporary internet files and revisit the site to see if this is the issue. Ta.
