Bronteana

This morning I took a walk to the Top Withins. This is reputed to be the inspiration for one of Emily Bronte's novels as the sisters were supposed to be frequent visitors to this lonely spot. Its about 4 and a half miles from the vicarage. Note the japanese characters on the sign! They come in great numbers to see where the Sisters lived.

It is bleak isn't it, but has a beauty too. A lovely part of the country.

I never read any of the Bronte Books but from what I know of them they were rather bleak,they seemed a very strange family. of course Haworth were they moved to can be rather forbidding at times but it certainly cashes in on them. I intend in the future to add one or two other spots which they sisters frequented.
