  • Not secure???

Of all my regularly visited websites, this forum is the only one chrome thinks isn't secure!

    Any ideas?

        Re: Not secure???

There is a very simple explanation. And there is nothing to worry about.

Basically, the forum does not (yet) use SSL encryption. That means forum pages are http pages, not https pages.

There are no security sensitive pages on the forum; we don't request sensitive data from you (bank details, etc.). So there is minimal risk.

We are planning to implement SSL and, in fact, part of the site, like the magazine section, which has a small online shop (though not handling secure payment information directly), is already secure:

I hope that answers your question.

          Thanks Ian, much appreciated.
I wasn't overly concerned, being a long time member, but if it had been my first visit it may have put me off.... so worth mentioning.

Lots of sites will show up as partially insecure because of legacy page address issues.

Google is pushing https page loading very hard and their browser highlights this in particular,

It's a low risk, but you should not put sensitive information into PMs for the reason Ian has given.

Can't argue with any of tha above.

However, I'd be more worried what info is being sucked out of mobile phones via Google and the myriad of inter-linked social sites without user permission? Something to remember next time you share intimate details to one of your million or so friends on the i'net.
It's not what inspires us that is important, it's where the journey takes us.
