        The irony of the past and that which followed on wasn't lost. The story could, however, be used to bring some sort of recognition to the 'vital role' he played in the 200 year old story of exploration at the outer limits.

        Seems to me - given the odd snippet of info contained in the articlle - he was a better statesman then, than some of those, both near and far that we have to put up with today. Considering that 'certain attitudes' still remain, that alone, should be enough to earn him a more prominent position in history.
