Re: How Low Can Thugs Get ?
I would leave it to the courts to determine what a suitable sentence was.
Clearly there is something horrible here and on the face of it you expect something severe, but there may be a whole picture we don't know about. You never know until you know the whole story
I very much hope that they are caught and the story is properly examined

Re: How Low Can Thugs Get ?
Isn’t half the problem that the courts are too soft on these sort of scum? Slap on the wrist and a ‘don’t do it again sonny’ seems about it nowadays. What message does that send to anyone? It’s tantamount to saying it’s OK to do it, in the eyes of the scum.
The defending barrister will no doubt plead all the usual codswallop about no father figure, mother on drugs etc, whatever sob story he thinks will soften the judge.
Drive at 35 mph and it’s a whole different story.

Leaving it to the courts is precisely why the person stood behind you at the Tesco's checkout could have 60 previous convictions including theft, robbery, mugging GBH etc. and still be walking our streets. It is also the reason why thugs have no respect or fear of our laws or any part of our legal system.Originally posted by shenstone View PostI would leave it to the courts to determine what a suitable sentence was.
What possible picture, scenario or excuse could there possibly be for sticking razor blades on children's playground equipment ?Originally posted by shenstone View PostClearly there is something horrible here and on the face of it you expect something severe, but there may be a whole picture we don't know about

One that worries me is that peoople will start taking the law into their own hands and by doing so, will more than likely be the ones who get punished. A win win for the toe-rags who will probable gain monetary damages. If crime doesn't pay, then why the 'eck is it becoming more and more prevalent and in your face? It's not what inspires us that is important, it's where the journey takes us.

Re: How Low Can Thugs Get ?
It sounds more like a mental health issue or possibly some form of hate crime.
Whatever the explanation the perpetrator(s) shouldn't be free to walk the streets for a very long time.
I agree with Cressida Dick. The fear needs to be put back into policing, and also into visits to the Head teacher's office. Speaking as one who received a few strokes of the Head Master's cane (I wasn't always a good boy) I can tell you than it was a much more effective deterrent that a few after school detentions.

Given todays compensation mentality, you could probably make a successful claim against the Education Dept for many years of mental anguish and depression, suffered as a result of being caned.Originally posted by Naughty Nigel View PostSpeaking as one who received a few strokes of the Head Master's cane (I wasn't always a good boy) I can tell you than it was a much more effective deterrent that a few after school detentions.
