Gin and macros interesting. Have a great time Walti, presumably the earlier shots might be the best

Re: This afternoon's outing!
Really good afternoon...
A welcoming G&T - got to be onto a winner like that!
Loads of subjects set out to practice on, with natural light, flash and studio lighting and stacking workshops to work around.
Learnt a few things that I'd not found in the menus, like how to use flash with the electronic shutter - something I'd simply not found.
(Menu, shooting menu 2, anti shock/silent, silent mode settings, flash mode, allow) Obvious isn't it?
I'd had a hit and miss relationship with focus stacking and focus bracketing, I could make one work then not the other, as I've been mixing up the start place for each function... (In camera stacking starts in the middle of the composition, Bracketing for out of camera processing starts at the nearest point of the composition)
The Olympus STF-8 flash is simply fantastic, used it as fill in and main lighting for a few photos, was quietly pleased with the results (though they're not worth sharing as they were looking at the flash performance not making a good photo!)
Had a go with a couple of the f1.2 lenses - really good (though they should be at that price!
) using the 17mm f1.2 for studio work was interesting as you could play with the DoF to your hearts content.
All in all an excellent event as all the Olympus events have been, and finally a goody bag which included a 10% off voucher (valid at the Oly on-line store and dealers) and a reminder of the summer cash back offers and a miniature bottle of gin!Paul

The one person that probably needed it walked to the event and had a lift home....Originally posted by JohnheatingmanI wonder if Olympus will be providing free breathalyzer tests before the guests return to their vehicles ?

A few photos:
NB the bits and bobs used for still life subjects were arranged by the user as required, I would have moved the whole kit and caboodle on the studio set-up to improve the back drop but there wasn't the space!

Still life using 60mm macro lens

Similar using 17mm f2

Some seeds using 60mm macro and STF-8

Still life set-up for using studio lighting

My attempt, using 12-40mm Pro lens
