Why? Whichever make and model of camera you buy, an updated, improved replacement will always be just around the corner. It doesn't make the camera you have just bought any less capable. I must admit I've lost track of when the latest models were launched; my once revolutionary E-M5 (complete with infamous crack that got us all so worked up at the time) now seems a bit of a dinosaur! I take it the 10 ii was not that long ago?Originally posted by iso View PostJohn

I was more thinking of the person who had bought a ii as a first time buyer of MFT - which 'emotionally' can be a big step from the NikCan marketing blurb. Oly says 'this is for you' - Then ah, but.

Other than the deliberately amusing pieces on PetaPixel the comments section of the rumors site is one of the most amusing photo related items on the interweb. As an early adopter of the OM4 I barely follow the new models. I wouldn't consider buying a body until it had been in the hands of early adopters for at least six months. Let them beta test for Olympus.Originally posted by Zuiko View PostComment

I think most of the internal components were replaced at least once apart from the film advance mechanism. It had a new viewfinder when it was only a year or so old, the pentaprism was desilvering, that was replaced at the same time as its first circuit board replacement. It had multiple shutter and circuit board replacements. Exactly. The E-M5 Mk i was and is a very good camera. The fact that the Mk iii is now on the shelves doesn't make the Mk i any less of a good camera.Originally posted by Zuiko View PostWhy? I still have and use mine. I only upgraded to the E-M1 because my son went over to the dark side, and he needed to sell his. I have no intention of changing or upgrading it.
If I want better quality I use medium format film.
