Mind the language! It was not a mistake. It was an omission! There are lawyers out there...

First, I have to write the book. The first hundred copies will be signed by the author. An investment opportunity?

              Re: Late Sign-up

I hate to get started on this ... but you've set me off :-)

I called 24h telephone banking one night (or about 2am as is typical for me) and was told "I can't do that (something I had done before) because you have been selected to have a personal banker and I need their approval"

.. needless to say I was not impressed that my service had been reduced by this un-communicated change

but they plain refused and it was not until I had made contact with that person (during my working hours which was a PITA) and had my account moved back to "normal" that the 24h phone line would then do what I wanted.

I have to say the only reason I am still with that banks is I suspect they are all as bad as each other...

luckily I was not at the point of wanting a new lens so no camera related purchases were delayed

Put me down for a signed copy please. Not sure how I'll be able to verify the signature mind.

My bank will do so, provided that they can check that you are bona fide.

                    Re: Late Sign-up

I got a letter from a bank, who I do not bank with, saying " Further to your recent letter regarding your account mandate" Blah blah.
The reference was an account number, no name to identify it.

I rang their fraud people, to be told they had no record of the account number and to check my Experian record, change my passwords ETC.

So I went to the local branch where it was established that I had received the letter because I am secretary to a U3A and we had a change of treasurers.
If they had done the sensible thing and put the name of the account on the letter, I could have checked with our Treasurer, rather than drive miles to my nearest branch. Not rocket science.

                      Dave,

I'm saddened to see that you have the wrong attitude. You seem to think that the banks are there to meet our needs. Wrong way round!

I got a call from my bank today, which is rare, asking if I was happy with them changing my blue debit card for a black one...

The chap then told me I can get free coffee at some obscure shop I have never heard of, half price tickets to a cinema I have never heard of and cheep/free entry into some English Heritage sites, which most likely will be ones I have never heard of...
