That's the old 5' 6" size turned metric. Try searching for 5' 6" as well as 1650mm, it may well turn up more hits...

There is at least on manufacturer http://www.ideal-standard.co.uk/site....aspx?cs=Baths who lists both 1200 and 1400 size baths. Perhaps if you contacted them they would suggest a supplier?

Funnily enough we've had the same conversation as we are also going to upgrade the bathroom (loads of plumbing pictures to come on this forum then !).

We decided that we would have a bath even though it only gets used very occasionally and we could do without it both for us and for possible sales value as we've heard this a few times.

We have seen some waly in bath sides i.e. baths with a door - don't know if that's useful input to the discussion

On bath lengths - we've seen a much better range at the specialists as well so ours won't be from B&Q - Bathstore are looking promising

Although we live in tied property and so don't have any say in the matter, FWIW we have a bath in the en-suite and a shower in the "ordinary" bathroom.
In winter (11 months of the year) we use the bath exclusively - useful for when I come in from working outside and need to relax my overused muscle. But the shower is handy during the warm(er) month.
In the property we still own in Oban there is a bath with an overhead shower, which we are told by the tenants gets used in preference to the bath.
Suppose this doesn't help much ....

Yes. I'd not recommend this for the main bathroom - an ensuite perhaps. We have a bath and shower in our main bathroom and a shower only in the ensuite. Works for us. The ladies of the house do like a candlelit bath at the weekend!

I think not having a bath will affect the resale of the property too. They are 'expected' and likely to be more so given the direction of the economy/society.

Susan..... have you considered an antique bath? Got any good architectural scrapyards near you? Nice enamel bath, round edged - claw/ed feet - deep and long. Lovely.

But a shower's no good for those that live in the North - you can't keep much coal in one!

Which reminds me: a Geordie in-law, who is sadly no longer with us, always reckoned that if he came home from school and found his mother wearing only one stocking he knew they were having Spotted Dick for pudding.
