Looking over the content of the board today, and seeing Brian's post about not having any more Olympus gear as he has health problems...it got me thinking about the age span on this site....most (and that's a very loose term) seem to be leaning towards retirement age, some around the nifty fifties, and some still able to look upstairs without thinking how long is this going to take me so it would be interesting to find out our youngest forum member and our oldest...no prizes of course, but an interesting point.
Also are the younger members actually interested in a site like this....or is it all selfies and phone pics ??
Cheers
Peter
Well, back in 2010 Woofmix ran a poll http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthre...highlight=Poll which showed that the "nifty fiftys" led us "super sixties" by a short head. Before the end of this year I shall be in the "slowing seventys" team.

she looked at me and said "It's official. I hate your camera. It's just so amazing and perfect I want one!"

I'll be 60 in 6 months, but as I've had Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis since I was 42, I have had many days of feeling 80+
But my dogs, photography, and sheer obstinacy keep me going! And in my head I am still in my 20's!
Relax, they're just numbers. I've seen 'older' 40 something's than 60 something's. It's a mixture of what you're made of (thank your mum and dad for that), what you do with the product, the environment, food, drink, smoking, exercise etc etc, a dollop of good fortune and quite importantly, one's mental state.
Medical science will evolve to keep the body, but the mind and soul are another matter.
Just behind you Jim as birthday No71 has just slid past, but feel 40 which is great! It's all in the mind truly! 😄
To answer Peter's question - it would be interesting to know the makeup of ages on the forum - I suspect it is a time thing - younger people with families have a lot going on in their lives these days and the forum does take time. With the amount of hits some posts get I think a lot of "lurkers" enjoy the site.
I'm looking forward to qualifying for an Old Farts' Rail Card later this year (at 60). Sadly the free bus pass is receding over the horizon faster than I am aging so I'll probably never catch up with it.
I'm another who grew up with OMs - where I worked we used to get an annual bonus of a few (very few!) percent of salary and the first, in 1978 or 9, just about stretched to an OM-1n with Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 on special offer at Dixons.
