    Re: A little bird ...

Haha, a belated thanks to you all!

I've had a rather unusual day which started with an emergency doctor's appointment for my daughter because a chest infection has made her asthma flare up. More antibiotics and steroids!

We hadn't been home long before friends phoned to say they were coming to visit, which precipitated an emergency clear-up and hoover. Our friends hadn't long gone when it was time to watch our daughter struggle through her performance in a drama club production, something she has rehearsed for weeks and really didn't want to miss.

There was just time to get something to eat upon returning home, before watching Algeria's gallent effort but ultimate defeat against Germany followed by the sampling of a birthday treat, Orcadian in origin and created some twelve birthdays past when I was still a relatively young man! I enjoyed the sweet yet smokey aroma upon opening the bottle, which soon translated to a taste that lingered smoothy upon the palate in a most enjoyable way and invited the pouring of another measure.

Said birthday treat then caused me to fall asleep on couch for a couple of hours before waking to find the TV still on, with some interactive gambling game in progress, and the realization that I hadn't yet visited this forum today (or yesterday to be precise!)

It's amazing how easy it is to fill the day when you're retired!
    John

Rather belatedly Happy Birthday, sounds like you deserved the treat and hope you didn't push the wrong button when you woke up (or if you did that you won big!)

              I am now!

Actually I first discovered it many years ago whilst visiting a friend, who afforded me the hospitality of a glass. I was reaquainted with it last year during a trip to the Orkneys and it seemed a reasonable request to make when my wife asked what I would like for my birthday.

There is a fair chance that the contents of the bottle may deplete a little further during the televised football this evening!

Lucky the number of Birthday Wishers is nothing to do with actual age (which should be more like "acting your shoe size" for the maximum fun I am 6
