Should it be abolished ?

Maybe, in favour of VAT at a higher rate on Luxury Goods?

So perhaps 40% VAT on expensive watches ; jewellery/cameras and fast cars ?


and then Fuel Tax could Increase so we pay per mile, rather than massive Road Fund Licence - which is an utter farce - especially in these "Pot Holing Times" ... we are looking at getting a 4 x 4 just because of the suspension to reduce damage from disappearing down potholes

Income Tax is temporary. It was introduced in 1799 to defeat the French. Surely we should have won by now?

I don't call my Kia a luxury car, but it cost me just over £25k. But yes, I concede the others. Unless I buy that Patek Philippe I'm hankering after ....

Yes I agree - they sure won in the long run except for the Wall coming down - but then they are making up- those costs now

I kind of guessed as much.

It still takes me by surprise though, that I've spent so much on a Kia, yet for the same money I could have got a lower-end Merc. But take the badge off and it's fine.
