That's a very good question which I have pondered myself - my current belief is that views off-YouTube do not count. I also wonder if a view is counted if the video doesn't play to the end.

Just been doing a little research on this - apparently if an embedded video is set to autoplay it's not counted for views. There is a consensus that the counting of embedded video views regardless is diluted 10:1. I also read that YouTube videos viewed on Facebook are not counted (supposedly because of a long unresolved technical problem).

Hmmm, that's concerning Barrie. I have no problem posting a video on here at all, but it would help if the viewing statistics on YouTube reflected the number of views the video receives on here too.
There's comment on the net about autoplay when videos are embedded in a forum, but I don't see that on here as I believe one has to press the play button to get the video to actually start.John
