... that was exactly, what I had to do yesterday morning!
I've no idea what brought you here in the first place
but the pussy I saw outside, after lifting the curtains, was our own tomcat "Ozelot". And I was really upset by what I saw, because he had caught a Great Tit - stone dead! I emidiately went outside and chased him half way around the house befor he surrendered and left the Great Tit to me. To make my dislike and point fairly clear I gave him a good spanking with that very same, dead Great Tit - and then some. He knew he deserved it! At least I felt he had a bad conscience, from the beginning.
What to do next? Right, now get the Snake out! In particular, it was now time for "Emma", my old female Cornsnake (Pantherophis guttatus) to enter the scene and to finish off the job on the Great Tit, so her life had not gone entirely wasted. I plucked the pinnions (the tail feathers already went astray whilst spanking the cat) and handed the unfortunate Tit over to Emma:
#1

It was a laborious thing, but after c. 40min. all that was left were some feet:
#2

It takes not even five minutes to swallow a full grown mouse. Here you see how difficult it was to get the Tit down in one piece: it took 45min! The beak is stinging the insides and the wings stick out on either side of the mouth, blocking the whole process for a good time. At last they could be bent into the right direction and all went down well. But we don't need to repeat this one ...
So (short) is life!
