I'll let you know whether or not I agree after they've been to correct a fault on my line on Thursday.

      Re: Just venting

We're with BT for phone and broadband.

You're OK with BT as long as:

      1. Nothing goes wrong with your line
      2. You don't change anything at all

Otherwise you are in for a world of pain and mis-billing.

My hint: Record all your conversations with them...
Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

Our mistake was to attempt to change our direct debit date.

Do this for any ISP and any other numpty firm(s) you have hassle with. Can pay dividends later when push comes to shove.

I got a full refund = free phone and BB for 7 months from the folks that talk the talk, but don't.

            Re: Just venting

So far BT have been very good for me.

My problems have been numerous and long-standing, but with other suppliers.

Glad to have left Sky this month.
Glad to have left N-Power 2 months ago.

The problem these days is they are all gearing up to gain customers, not to keep customers.
The only power yuo have realy is to move your business elsewhere (as I have done for broadband, tv, gas, electric, and if I could I would for water!

                  Greg,
Try this website http://www.ceoemail.com/ and contact Ian Livingston BT's CEO direct. If you remember he answered my email last year http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=15320. Funnily enough I've had no problems since.

                    Re: Just venting

We were once accused of running a business from home because of the traffic that we generated on a 128kb twin ISDN line (when they were all the rage with business and cost a pretty penny to install and keep) my dad installed. We weren't, its just that my dad was particularly interested in computers and decided he wanted to have a play with web hosting.

BT got hung out to dry by my dad and we haven't ever paid for phone/internet since. That is at least 7 years, possibly more.

Generally speaking phone companies, especially mobile ones, are the devil. T-mobile couldnt understand why it might make me irratable that I couldn't walk in and pick up a deal from online instore, but they were able to offer me a phone or computer to speak to their sales team located elsewhere...
