Re: Foto Fair -Vs- Looking for Perfection ?

This is a really useful thread and has given me a much better idea of where to post images in the future. I think I have just added incorrectly to my thread in Foto Fair, it may have been better placed in LfP as I am asking for advice, but at least I now know for future reference.

I alway tread a bit careful with Foto Fair, simply because people may not want the suggestions I might offer.

Re: Foto Fair -Vs- Looking for Perfection ?

Good to see this post and as stated elsewhere I'm all for re-editing of images placed in Looking for Perfection - the title says it all, the image isn't perfect but the photographer feels that it is getting close to attaining that, so how can it be improved.
I will often even edit an image to help me understand what it is that 'catching my eye' as a positive or negative issue, and if it is easier to visually show my reasoning then will upload the re-edit to the originators thread.
I'm 'very good' (most people say bad) at being over-wordy, so some of you will have been saved countless lines of wordage by me posting a re-edit instead!!
However, I fully understand the issue of the 'artist's vision', and part of my work at times in the past has been trying to reach the balance between maintaining an artist's vision, recording that vision and even reproducing it in a different medium - but, the Looking for Perfection section should remain a place for those still aspiring to reach perfection and wanting the helpful advice and comments of all the wonderful photographers who inhabit this Forum!
So, should we have a level beyond 'looking'? 'Sheer Artistry'?

          Regards
          Chris

            What about "Beyond Perfection ...?"

Chris I was thinking about a section "Just for FUN" ... where the story not the IQ is the important element

I didn't think they were but I love getting feedback and seeing how others could improve my pics, it helps me next time. I now stick to Foto Fair, but I may start posting in Looking for Perfection again as I miss the critique.
That person got hold of the wrong end of the stick Shirley. The forum is not for images that have reached perfection, but for those posters who are looking to perfect thier images. Least wise, that is how I and I suspect most folk think.
And so, critique should be welcomed. I also do not have a problem with folk editing my work to show how 'it is done'.

Knowing how many years its taken me to get a decent photo of low flying helicopters, perhaps a section called "Heck, I'd just like to be able to get one shot that's in focus!" would be good.

As a newbie I've found this thread very useful in understanding the difference between these two forums. I understand most of the acronyms but can someone tell me what CO6 is please. Thanks.

It is a raw developer/image editor (like photoshop et al), see http://www.phaseone.com/en/Downloads/CaptureOne.aspx. Never tried it myself.

I only use it because I used a free download, Rawshooter which was the forerunner of LR. I do have CS 5 but am too lazy to learn how to use it.
