In an attempt to cause panic and mayhem among the general population terrorists have put explosive devices in tins of soup.
One person had a lucky escape when the device in his tin of alphabet soup failed to go off, he said "that was close it nearly spelled disaster"

Must have been a foreign terrorist, no one educated in a British school could have spelt 'disaster'. Mind you they would probably have put a comma after close (or a 'so' before it).
