  • Nostalgia - or the future?

In my youth (just a couple of years ago) I worked for Leyland Trucks. Today I was sorting through my computer room (having been "requested" to tidy it) and came across this sales brochure. I wonder if they wish they had developed the truck further? I remember the vehicle coming into our workshops but alas have no pictures of it.

If you think that even now our "fleet" trucks only operate on average 450 to 500 horses,
Was if a case of forget it or did DAF intervene ???

This was well before DAF days. They sold the engines to British Railways (as it was then) in the mid - 1970s. I think the problems then were as much to do with transmissions as anything else - they had a 5 speed auto box which couldn't handle the power.

Wonder if the brochure has any value?

I bet it has, there are many truck collectors out there who would be interested, our maintenance provider has 3/4 old Fodens that he shows and the shows he attends are full of collectors, this weekend there is a show at Astle park I think,
I`m a Merc man myself {but not vintage}, my first truck was a 1635 Merc Powerliner,
