Not sure whether this is the right place for this but does anyone know of how I go about video editing camcorder HD video footage? Just really want to cut bits of it out throughout the recording. If there is more that you can do then so much the better.

It all depends on which editing programme you have.
I use iMovie HD on iMac & MacBook Pro, and can cut bits out, add music, still images, transitions and chapters, etc.
If you use a PC, there will be many suitable programmes.
I'm assuming the camera is digital and not tape based?
If you are running a Mac the latest iMovie has good HD support and comes bundled with the machine. It really is a deceptively powerful bit of editing software.
Unfortunately I've only ever used Avid or Adobe Premiere on a PC which will be a bit overkill from the sound of it and don't know about the cheaper options really. I believe Sony have a fairly good consumer level package that comes quite well reviewed. I'll try and dig out the name for you later.
As Stewart says it depends on what editing software you are using. Depending on what you use depends on what you can do and how you do it. I also use Premiere Pro and DVD Encore to assemble the timelines into a DVD. With Premiere Pro (and Final Cut) the limit on what you can do is really your imagination. Even with the most basic editors you can do the basics like editing clips and usually a lot more.
So the first question is what software are you using?

Are we talking about a conventional camcorder or footage off a digital still camera? If it's the former, you need to capture the footage off the tape. Older cameras let you do this using composite video or S-Video analoge cables and a capture card on your PC. Not all video editing suites (like Adobe Premiere Elements) still support this. The digital method would be over, typically, Firewire, or maybe USB.
Look via All Programs from the Start Menu for Windows Live Movie Maker. If you don't already have it, you can download it from www.live.com (it's a Microsoft site).
Microsoft Movie Maker may or may not be the right application for you, depending on what you want to achieve (simple cut/paste?) and the amount of data (size/length of movie = minutes?) you are planning to edit.
If it does not support you in achieving the results you want, here is a link to Video Editing SW packages reviews listed at CNET. Sorted in ascending license cost.
I use Nero Vision, included in Nero Multimedia Suite myself.

I now have my video clip in Windows Movie Maker. It plays in there but how do I go about editing now in the Edit section ie Imported Media,ffects, transitions, Titles and Credits? Any ideas?

I am not actually familiar with WMM because I use Adobe Premiere, but there are lots of tutorials you can look at by googling. This might be a good place to start:
