That is a major shock! Bet Nikon is rubbing its collective hands together. With the vacant space of last year I wonder if the area the Canon was due to occupy will be filled by others. Ho hum!
Interesting to hear that Oly may be there in some capacity after all.

I will most likely go on the Monday or the Tuesday - never the weekend

Now that you've told us, do you have to shoot us?

Now, I don't want to jump the gun, but I do believe there will be some Olympus presence at the show after all, but I have absolutely no details. Of course I'm seeking clarification and will let you know here as soon as I have more news.

The problem is, if they don't hurry up and pubicize it nobody will know they are there! You'd think that with a great new camera like the E5 they'd want to shout it from the rooftops at every opportunity, with huge prints showing the amazing detail prominently displayed for all to see.

Just a thought, if Olympus don't feel they have the resources to attend this type of show why don't they ask our group to have a presence there? All they would need to do is book a stand and I'm sure between us we could man it, display our pictures and talk enthusiastically about our gear. If they wanted to thank us they could provide a generous discount when we next purchase a lens or camera. I'd be up for it, it could be our contribution towards Cameron's "Big Society!"

Not sure they'd want me on their stand, I might be forced to reveal that I'm rather taken with the Pentax K5.

Haha! Well, no, it would have to be pro Olympus! But I can appreciate why you are taken with the K5, it does look to be a cracking good camera and certainly better than anything Canikon has to offer (apart from full frame). The Limited Edition primes look great, too, although I was surprised to see some less than enthusiastic conclusions about the optical quality in certain test reports. It seems that in terms of glass Olympus SHG still reigns supreme, if you can afford it!

If Oly are going to be there in some way I think I may take a well earned day off work and head up the M1 & M6.

Problem is my credit card will be screaming at me to give it some air away from it's normal dark home in my wallet.

I agree with David M on this one.
Apart from the long trek down from the Isle of Skye I don't relish the thought of waiting around at various stands while a bunch of tyre kickers and brochure pickers tie up all the available staff.
Somebody start a 'proper' trade show. Pro's only.

Trouble is, most of us wouldn't be able to go!
