  • How music can make you feel

I am not the most happy person in the world suffering from depression (especially in winter).

My music tastes have always been contrary to the perception of normal for my age (from 16-34).

However I am still amazed on how music can make a person feel. I am currently listening to David Bowie, and it makes me smile.

Next, time for some of my all time favourites......classical music followed by aphex twin and daft punk.

How does music affect other and what are you musical tastses?

Theres nothing like a bit of music to take away the blues.
I have alway had a very wide taste in music in my long years(0-50).
When I am processing photos I like to put on a nice bit of Arvo Part or Vaughan Williams.
When Im out in the kitchen cooking(another on of my passtimes)nothing like a bit of Hawkwind.
I also think I have a musical taste thats not quite the norm,I love anything from the Canterbury music scene ie Caravan,Hatfield and the North,Soft Machine etc.
My favorite guitarist is Jan Akkerman who use to play with Focus and is still going now,I must have about 40 albums by him.
Also quite partial to a bit of jazz like Miles Davies.

Yes all in all nothing like a bit of music to sooth the soul.

I love Jan Akkerman too. I saw Focus live in Birmingham once - the playing was amazing, but the stage craft was terrible so the actual 'gig' was awful - SOOO boring. JNot even the music lifted that night. I'm a big fan of Jan though.

I'm a guitarist and Jim, playing has helped me through some bad times.

I've got a ridiculously catholic taste in music. Morrisey to Steely Dan, Scissor Sisters to Steve Earl, XTC to Peter Gabriel. Baroque to Bangra... too many favourites to list.

Shakespeare, as usual, said it first: 'Music has charms to soothe the savage beast'

It's always been there for me, a trusted friend. It was my job for a long time. People let you down in life - but music never does.

Anne and I both love the sound of music. I myself have Classic Radio on every morning - followed by a mixture of pop or tenors in the evening and listening to Gold at bedtime.

As for Anne - well she's a trendy. Music of the 50's and 60's anytime.

                      Regards. Barr1e

ps Music certainly lifts the heart.
Just like that - gone in a flash! Now in use.

I love Tears without Fears, and for those who haven't heard it, their track entitled 'Listen' is definitely worth a listen. 'Say Hello, Wave Goodby', by Marc Almond and Soft Cell rates as one of my all time top 10 single tracks, as does 'The Whole of the Moon' by the Blow Monkeys... what a track. How about the classic 'Tubular Bells' by Mike Oldfield - wonderful stuff. So many pieces, so many styles.

Ah the Blow Monkeys,my old mate Mick Anchor played bass on their records. He started out as a prog man and then punk.Went to school with him between 1972 and 1976.
