  • For sale Aged Epson R2100 printer - FREE offer

I'm clearing out some old photographic gear that I no longer use. In particular I need to find a home for my ancient Epson Stylus Photo R2100 printer, or else it'll end up on the tip. I'm just testing the water to see if there is any interest, as it'll need a bit of fettling. It's heavy and large so it would be collection only, but FREE.

It's a 13" pigment ink printer which uses the 7-colour ultrachrome inkset, but has stood idle for along time. As a result most of the ink channels are blocked, though in the past I've always managed to clear them. I am out of ink on one channel and I'm not prepared to buy another just to see if I can get the print head unblocked. There are ways and means to unblock print heads (with window cleaner! Search the web, e.g. http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/i...nter-cleaning/).

When it was working it produced excellent results on matt papers, though I did use ImagePrint v6 RIP software (on win95!) which could be included (you would need to confirm what Windows version it'll work with and whether you could transfer the license. I have the associated dongle). Other than that, I think the mechanics are sound. Alternatively, it might be suitable for conversion to one of the continuous ink feed solutions, such as from Lyson (https://www.specialistinks.com/epson...photo-2100.php).

Please let me know if you have any interest.
    Ian

    Re: Aged Apson R2100 printer

I had a 2100 for a while with a Permajet continuous ink system. It was indeed a very good machine but eventually suffered an apparently terminal ink blockage. I gave it to a friend, not sure if he ever got it to work again. I replaced it with a 3800 A2 printer which has never missed a beat since. I always found the Epson driver perfectly adequate. This would be a bargain for anyone prepared to fiddle a bit .
    Regards
    Richard

Too bad I am in the other side of the world or I wouldn't mind picking it up.

Thanks Andy. I tried to edit it after I posted it, but of course this site doesn't allow it. Also, is there an optional prefix "For Free" rather than "For sale"? Not that that really matters.

              Hi Ian

We already have a generic "Interested?" option that can be used with the word FREE in the title which I think would meet the need rather than a new option
