Remarkable?
Razor sharp?
I think the "non R" version was an earlier version of this lens

Re: Olympus 40-150 f4-5.6R
There is absolutely no image quality difference between the R and non-R versions, the are the same. Same number of lens elements, positioned exactly the same, same number of HR and ED elements, same weight, same dimensions.
The difference is entirely what the lens looks like, with the R version being a bit more modern looking.E-M1 mk II

Re: Olympus 40-150 f4-5.6R
I have two of these but neither work (both bought used, the second one to replace the first when it stopped working..............).
I think that the contacts don't meet the ones in my camera bodies. Comparing the contacts on these lenses with the ones on metal mount lenses shows that the former appear to be recessed slightly below the mount flange whereas with the latter they are flush. I wonder if that could be the reason.
I don't know how to test thisand don't want to buy another copy of the lens - just want one of the two I have to work as they are so small with good quality results.

Re: Olympus 40-150 f4-5.6R
Well I only had good experiences with mine. I had the R version. Kinda regret selling it, tbh, I now have the 75-300 but sometimes that's just too large and I'd rather have something smaller with me.E-M1 mk II
