  • WANTED OM 24mm f2 or f2.8

Does anyone have an OM 24mm, either f2.0 or f2.8, they'd like to sell?

I'm on the look out for a clean copy, no fungus etc.

    Thanks for looking.

    Hi Steve,

Ffordes have both available at the moment, oh and also a 24mm shift

      Thanks Simon,
I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask about the optical condition of the f2.8.

I keep forgetting about Ffordes for some reason.

Steve - if you're looking for a 24mm that's a bit cheaper than the Oly, I have an OM fit Vivitar 24 f2.8. It's a bit soft wide open, but it sharpens up quickly as you stop down. Let me know if you're interested.

Paul, I'm currently analysing the results from a recent session with the OM50 f1.8 and I'm not overly impressed I have to say, even at at f5.6 and f8. I expected reasonably sharp images using focus peaking, but sadly not. Need to get to the bottom of this before spending any more.
                Thanks for the offer.

                  Steve,

Which 50mm F1.8 do you have? I still have the 'Made in Japan' which is reputedly the best one ( it is attached to my OM1n in the image below ). I have not tried it on my 5mk2 yet but will as soon as I get the chance.

I must say that I find the EVF on the 5mk2 extremely good for manual focussing, the shot below was taken without peaking or magnification. Admittedly the lens used should 'deliver' , it was shot with my new Leica M 50mm f1.4 Summilux Limited. Wide open too

                  Kind regards, Simon

                    Hi Simon,
Inscribed on the lens front it reads: Olympus OM System Zuiko MC Auto-S 1:1,8 f=50mm Japan. (Serial number 28100884.)
Optically the lens looks perfect, no evidence of dust, fungus and no clouding at all.

I'll post some images later, it would be interesting to get some feedback from you - if you have the time and inclination of course.

PS Your lens hood looks really good; I suppose you pay more for less material!

                      Re: OM 24mm f2 or f2.8

I have the "made in japan" version and it is sharp from f2.8 onwards. F1.8 is usable.

                      I tested the 50mm on Fuji XE2. Don't have a m4/3 adaptor

Thanks for posting niranhopper. The copy I have doesn't state 'made in Japan', it just has the word 'Japan' inscribed after the focal length and f number. Now that's interesting!

I forgot to ask you, are the images enlarged, eg 2:1, or are they normal, as shot?
                          Cheers,

Steve - I have the 50mm f1.8 MIJ lens and it delivers pretty good IQ - pretty much in line with Niranhopper's observations.
