I'd second Graham's suggestion of the XZ-2. I've used it's sister camera - the Pentax MX-1, which pairs the same lens and sensor in a different body - and was very impressed by the results even in challenging lighting conditions. They outclassed comparison images taken with the Fuji X20 which supposedly has the advantage of a larger sensor but in reality turned out more noise and more mush.

Well, the budget is perhaps a challenge - but I've just donated my old E-M5 to my wife and sans-grip with the Lumix 12-32 it's a pretty small and powerful beast. You could probably do the same with an E-PM2 or E-PL5 for maybe £250.

guys, don't be selfish! I've just recently gifted my wife gx7 with my last two primes, PL 25 1.4 and sigma 60mm 2.8. they do deserve it :-Park

I've just picked her up a wee cheap Panasonic compact,just for general family snaps or when I'm not there.I had registered an interest in the one offered above but as I never heard anything from that point a wasnt hanging around forever.
