Something in the same line as a monfroto with a ball head and quick release if poss. I will be carrying this in the boot of my car so it doesn't need to be lightweight, thanks.

        Hi

I have a couple of these to move on.

I bought them from a RAF photographic equipment auction.

Price will reflect well used condition.

Just to mention, a tripod with ball head would be what I'm looking for, quality wise something like a manfrotto. Thanks
            Conor.

No Conor none of my 3 tripods are for sale. Brands to look for IMO are Manfroto, Giotto and Slik you may find a bargain on ebay but its not that likely.

What type of head do you want and I personally would not buy a tripod with braced legs I want more adjustment than that. What is you budget and do you need a a column that adjusts through 90degrees or even 18 0degrees?
                  Weight capacity is key though.

THIS good for the money people ask more secondhand.
THIS is good but you would need to buy a head its old model.
THIS has a good reputation and also needs head.

If you are flush get a Gitzo.

People who have tripod they like rarely part with them.

I have slik 700dx, not a ball head but very sturdy if weight isn't an issue, prefer it to my manfrotto 190

For my first tripod in 20 years I bought the 500DX rather the 190 after trying both in a shop and yes I did buy from teh shop.

Conor are there any decent camera shops near you?

Thanks for all your good advise Alf, that's very good of you. To answer you question, no, there are no decent camera shops near to me but I have a good idea of what's needed to suit me. The 190XPROB or the 500 DX, the former being more versitile for macro. Nevertheless both very portable and yet sturdy. Some members have offered their tripods for sale and I am in contact with them. They seem to have upgraded and and have no use for the second one. No doubt I will have bought one soon from the forum. Thanks again Alf, it's very good of you to take the time and help me along, much appreciated

Not sure if you are still looking for a tripod or not but I have the following for sale

Manfrotto 055 Nat3 complete with 141RC head and 3 QR plates

Feel free to make me an offer if it fits the bill.

Shipping could be pricey though as its a solid piece of kit.

Extremely good condition and complete with foot spikes as well as the standard caps
