As a matter of interest, why did you want to sell it?

I only ask because I seem to get variable (unpredictable) results from mine, and I cannot work out whether the problem is in the flashgun or my E1.

I had no problems with mine it produced very good results - the only reason I sold it is that I have purchased an E3 so Olympus will be giving me a nice new FL50R

That's a good enough reason for me!

I have had a problem with my E1/FL50 combination since new - some flash photographs are perfectly well exposed, but others are either noticeably under exposed, or more often, badly over exposed. In either case, the file usually reports that no flash was used.

I also have problems on occasions getting the camera to actually take a photograph with the flash attached. The camera seems to be indicating that it is waiting for the flash to charge when it is already charged and the 'ready' light is illuminated.

I also find that attaching the flash does not disable auto bracketing when I am having these exposure problems.

This all seems to point to a camera/flashgun communication problem, but despite having returned the camera three times, and the flashgun twice, nobody can find where the fault lies.

I also find that turning off the flashgun manually (rather than via the camera's on/off switch) reduces the problem, but doesn't eliminate it.

By contrast, the Canon 220 EX Speedlite that I use on my Canon G9 seems to provide perfect exposures almost every time, even though it is only a small flashgun on a compact camera.

I have tried to discuss this with Olympus Reps on two occsions, and have been told that there is nothing they can do as the camera and flash is out of warranty (even though it was returned twice under warranty, and the problem not resolved).
