  • For sale 200mm f3.5 Vivitar + 4/3 M42 Adapter

For sale, this nice Vivitar 200mm f3.5 manual focus legacy lens in M42 screw thread (old Pentax) fitting - together with a M42 to 4/3 (not m4/3) adapter.

The lens carries a 28xxx serial number which means it was made for Vivitar by Komine* (never heard of them? - well they made lenses for various Japanese companies but never sold under their own name)

Cosmetically it is very good. Optically: No scratches or fungus. The 8 blade iris is smooth and oil free. The aperture ring has had the click removed so "its suitable for video operation" Hmm. Maybe.

However it is a lot of lens for very little money. If you were contemplating a 50-200 and were wondering if you were man enough (or woman enough) for something this long, then give this monster a try :-)

Here's the garden view using my 14-42 at 25mm:

and here is what you get with 200mm at your disposal:

I am not interested in the lens, but I just have to say that KOMINE was a very respectable lens maker and most (if not all) of their lenses were wonderful.

The very best of Vivitar lenses were made by Tokina (17xxxxx), Kino (22xxxxx) and, of course, Komine (28xxxxx).

        I've got a Komine Vivitar 35mm f1.9 I picked up used.

I used it for all my nest box interiors which means the lens has paid for itself about 40x over.

As for getting a 135mm, try finding a Tamron 135mm f2.5. I've always preferred it to the OM Zuiko models and Olympus Japan obviously couldn't tell the difference as they published one of my shots taken with the Tamron.

Ah yes, the 135 f2.5: I had one once, but regrettably I sold it, together with all my manual focus lenes. This was before I had the Pen which lends itself to manual focus a whole lot better than the E620

That's why I never sell equipment I'm happy with. I probably still own 75% of all the 35mm and digital equipment I've purchased since the mid 70's.

On the other hand, I no longer own any medium or large format equipment.

I'll give this a bump to see if there are any takers this weekend before I go to ebay
