  • WANTED Budget dslr body only

Much as I love my E-P1 there have been one or two occasions when I've missed the facility of a viewfinder and would've liked to have been able to quickly switch between camera bodies.

I'm therefore casually looking into the possibility of getting a small budget dslr body - something in good working order but at a price that won't break the bank and can sit in my bag alongside my E-P1 and share my 4/3rds and MFT lenses when the situation dictates the use of a viewfinder. I don't mind the odd cosmetic 'battle scar'

Oly produces so many variants of everything I get confused - I suppose I'm looking in the realms of E400/410/420/500 etc?
(I love the E1 but want something considerably smaller).

If you have anything spare in your kit you think might be suitable do PM.

A FT body can't share your MFT lenses, only the other way round.

Have you considered upgrading your E-P1 to a later PEN model and adding the VF-2 or VF-3?

That way you keep the compact body you love, but can add the viewfinder when needed, and use your FT lenses with a MMF-1 or MMF-2.

It will be more expensive than just a FT body admittedly!

Hi DJMC - yes I know. I have considered upgrading the Pen but I really love the build and feel of my E-P1 and anyway I've never been one to spend too much on photography as it's not my major hobby (and SWMBO is ever watchful ).

That's why I'm looking at a small dslr body - an out of date model I suppose -ideally something that sits in someone else's gadget bag unused from month to month.

I only use 3 lenses - the MFT kit 14-42mm and 2 FT lenses the 35mm macro and 40-150mm Mk 2.

I'd like to find a cheap and cheerful workeable solution to those few times when I miss having a camera with a viewfinder.

I bought all my current camera gear on this forum so naturally this is the first place I start looking. Fingers crossed

What a great forum this is for buying and selling decent equipment - I will soon be the owner of an Oly E500 to partner my E-P1 - thanks Jo
