As all UK Olympus cameras come with a 2 year guarantee, this means that it is guaranteed until end of 2011!

Are you absolutely certain that the warranty is transferable from the original purchaser?

not normally a problem - people buy presents for other individuals all the time!

While that is indisputably true the recipient has no contract with the seller and hence no statutory consumer rights. John Lewis will provide a 'gift receipt' and out of the goodness of their heart transfer warranty rights. That is an exception.

Additional warranties provided by a manufacturer cannot detract from statutory rights but any enhancements are entirely at his discretion. The small print in the Olympus warranty statement clearly refers to "the customer" returning the goods for repair. Has anyone had experience of returning Olympus goods under warranty as second owner?

I had previously contacted Oympus UK regarding the transfer of warranty and this is their response.
