  • A Live Wire

This movie is about the installation of electric fencing on my
daughter's farm (no need for cow bells!) Sorry BDennis

Don't you put up warning signs that it's electrified?

No, because the fenced area is all within a 118 acre private property. With no adjacent public road. Thanks for watching.

Did the lady in the hat have an Olympus camera?

When I was a lad we used to holiday in a gite (cottage) rented from people we knew on this French farm. The dairy cows in a nearby field would often get out because the electric fence wire broke. After we shooed the cows out of the yard back into the field, the French chap staying next door would come along in his flip-flops and just twist the live wires back together!

        You need some cow bells

The lady with the camera in the video is my daughter to whom I gifted my Oly E-3 + Zuiko F2.8, 50-200mm ED. Are you sure the French chap next door who fixed the fence, wasn't a bot!

Whilst taking pictures recently in my 'verge' series I was bending down to take a picture of a small waterfall through a mesh fence.
BANG!! It felt as if some one had hit me on the head. I had not noticed the top wire of the fence was electrified.
        The camera was unhurt.

That must have given you quite a jolt! I did a similar thing many years ago when I tried to climb an elctric fence at the corner post - I got one hell of a shock. It was private property, but no warning sign.

Good job you weren't trying to step across it!

Yes, I've done it too, stepping (badly) over a fence.😚

Every summer I put up a 3-strand electric fence round the half of one of our marshes particularly rich in wildflowers (they stand no chance of surviving to flower and seed without it thanks to the sheep & deer). I very carefully make sure to NOT touch the wires when I connect the energizer but as I quickly check each line is active using a voltage tester - without fail - I forget that kneeling on the line to the earth stake will both test the circuit and get me uttering loud and fruity "French" I've only been doing this for 20 years so far ...

That's the kind of mistake that you experience only once!
