  • Herd of Fallow Deer

We saw a herd of about 30 Fallow Deer on a walk the other day here in Bedfordshire. I took some video clips and stills with the Em1 Mk3 and 100-400 f5-f6.3 lens and combined it into a movie. The video was hand held and can be a little wobbly at full zoom so I used some stabilisation in the DaVinci Resolve 17 editing software. I had all the image stabilisation applied in camera as well - I think this lens is not quite as good as the 300 F4 IS lens for stabilised video. Also you can see the heat haze in the last clip - it was quite obvious in the viewfinder at full zoom when focusing on the deer over a ploughed field - no matter what telephoto you have, heat haze will always get you! The captured audio was mostly wind noise so I replaced it with some free music - turn audio down if you don't like it!

Thank you Bill, I enjoyed watching and listening. It was fascinating to see the deer being sociable with each other. What fun you had making the video
      All the best

Thanks for the comments, it is good to hear you enjoyed it. I had good fun messing about with the video software, after years of writing software myself I
like to enjoy what others have created! 😀
