  • Not doing much of late

This horrible weather since Christmas has slowed down my picture taking , on dry days it seems the gardens x3 need cutting, pruning ,planting etc , or it’s hospital appointments or the mrs needs taking shopping and the last couple of weeks has been spent cleaning the caravan and getting it ready for next months holiday . Just not enough dry days left to take pics ..the camera and lenses are fairly water resistant but not much fun if you wear specs .. hopefully will catch up again soon

    It's been raining here also.

Water drops off a roof can be interesting too

Or as it splash off a leaf

Yes, the garden has been hard to keep under control because the wet conditions and relatively mild temperatures mean weeds and grass grow much faster and there are fewer dry days to get out to manage it all.

Looks like our mature weeping willow is really struggling, too.

I can agree with you all; it's been a really difficult year so far for getting out with the camera. Too many commitments and too much bad weather! However, the forecast today is for a dry morning and we're off to a favourite wood that should be awash with bluebells. That should take the stiffness out of my shutter finger!

It's a bright and sunny, if chilly (for the time of year, morning here but I have to take the dog to the vet for annual jabs, then do the weekly shopping, some household chores, keep an eye on the site and if it doesn't rain too hard (rain is forecast later today) I can do some work in the garden! But it's nice to at least listen to the hoopoe and the turtle doves!

Well Ian, for me, dog's jabbed (last week), shopping done yesterday, sun's out, camera's ready ... oh the liberation at last!

Spent a fair few days sorting out breaks for the rest of the year, very time consuming.
Also installed a 2.5in SSD in the computer and transferred the OS onto it.
That freed up a drive to sort and save some photos to and also put a M2 SSD in for Lightroom back ups.

I'm faced with the same task. And I'm curious to know what software you used to transfer you c:drive over to your new SSD.

HerrBill After much research I opted to buy a Samsung SSD which allows use of their excellent software.
It is called Samsung Magician and includes a data migration tool.
I was a bit nervous about transferring everything just in case some older programs failed to work.
Couldn't have gone any better, everything was it should be and the software was easy to use.
Once I was satisfied with the new drive the old HDD was formatted and reassigned purely for storage.
So quick to start up now and quiet too, very pleased I made the effort.
SSD I bought was a Samsung 870 QVO SSD 1TB SATA

Between rain: There are some mushrooms emerging now and slime moulds occur throughout the year. Then there are always lichens on old trees, in churchyards, etc.

The good days this past week have been spent doing the final jobs on getting our caravan ,cleaned and checked ready for a holiday in a couple of weeks , inflating tires to correct pressure etc . Then thurs I spotted a as new air awning on Facebook and we shot over to buy it ,bargain of the year the couple were changing to a motorhome so it wouldn’t fit so got it cheap with loads of extras saving a cool £800 quid in the process … then Friday we advertised our old awning and carpet which both sold within 5 minutes of listing but then you have to wait for the buyers to turn up .
Was going out today but the weathers turned Baltic again so it can wait . Pretty sure I’m turning into my hero victor meldrew 🥸🥸🥸😎🤭

Wish I had a shed to keep mine in save all this cleaning

We have had weeks of clear blue sunshine with temps in the mid to high thirties, when it was too hot for outdoors photography. Now that autumn is here, it is a bit chilly to be out 'n about - and who knows what the weather will be this forthcoming winter ... thank God for TV, the Beeb, and the forum!
Note: I am more interested in watching/listening to the beeb than the ABC, which has way too much boring local affairs, and sport.

We had gloomy grey skies and thunderstorms yesterday for most of the day

It's brighter today but now I have to do what I was planning to do in the garden yesterday!

Last week here we had snow, sleet and below zero temperatures at night. This has now changed to heavy clouds with rain and the promise of Sahara sand tomorrow and Tuesday moving in from the south east accompanied with rain and rising temperatures. Nothing like Spring to cheer you up!

The rain and miserable weather is unrelenting. I am trying to finish the base for my new woodshop/workshop in the garden but the rain and cold weather make laying breezeblocks and mortar impossible.

In Nairobi the city and its suburbs, have had prolonged rains and flooding with 24 inches of rainfall in the past week mostly at night, fortunately we are on high ground and not at risk to the floods. Despite this, it has been hot and humid during the day, 2 days ago the temperature reached 44C. Thank goodness for the car AC and a pool.

During the first week of April we managed to get away and stay with friends out in the bush and we visited a couple of game reserves, Lake Elementaita and Lake Nakuru.

Everything was perfect and after 3 years of ill health and several major operations, my health has dramatically improved. Some old guy things I have to accept and live with.

Both myself and my wife have been getting weekly physio and gym workouts at a local hospital, it all helps to boost our strength and mobility.

The recent trips boosted my confidence, so now we are contemplating on going camping when the rains have stopped. We decided to upgrade our old solar power to 5Kva and lithium batteries, so now we are not affected by the power cuts. We installed a new water filter system and we are able to drink water from the tap without having to boil it first.

I am sorry Jeff to hear about your health problems and the poor weather everyone has been having.

                        All the best
